Wikipedia defines a laser is a device that emits light (electromagnetic radiation) through a process called stimulated emission. The term laser is an acronym for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation.[1][2] Laser light is usually spatially coherent, which means that the light either is emitted in a narrow, low-divergence beam, or can be converted into one with the help of optical components such as lenses. Typically, lasers are thought of as emitting light with a narrow wavelength spectrum ("monochromatic" light). This is not true of all lasers, however: some emit light with a broad spectrum, while others emit light at multiple distinct wavelengths simultaneously. The coherence of typical laser emission is distinctive. Most other light sources emit incoherent light, which has a phase that varies randomly with time and position.

Hotsource ESD can help you design and fabricate custom photonic solutions, from the ultraviolet into the infrared, for a multitude of laser-based application. Each of the lasers or laser systems, and their accompanying electro-optic products, are critical factors in the successful development of better solutions for our customers' widely ranging, but highly specific, needs..

A wide range of diode pumped solid state (DPSS) lasers in the UV, visible and IR wavelength regions. Nd:YAG, Nd:YLF and Nd:YVO4 laser oscillators cover many fluorescence excitation wavelengths. Pulsed and continuous wave versions are available with powers ranging from mW to many Watts. In addition, MOPA configurations are available for power hungry applications. In addition, single frequency and low noise DPSS models for interferometry, holography, and scanning applications are also available upon requests.

A diode pumped solid state laser, or DPSS laser, combines a pump laser diode or diode array with a laser crystal to deliver a highly stable wavelength output. The pump diodes in use generate light very efficiently from small power supplies, and at a wavelength that matches the absorption peak of the laser crystal in use in the DPSS laser cavity. As a result, the diode pumped solid state laser, is a compact, efficient tool with a very stable emission wavelength.

Additional frequency modifying crystals can also be accommodated in the DPSS laser cavity. This feature generates emissions in the visible, blue and UV parts of the spectrum.

The use of additional optics and proprietary cavity designs enables narrow linewidth to be achieved for those applications where low noise or long coherence length is required.

Current DPSS laser technology has advanced to enable many different wavelengths and output power to be achieved.
